It will deploy tribesmen in Misrata as Nato launches air strikes on Tripoli

Misrata, the last large city held by rebels in the west of the country, has been under siege for nearly two months. Hundreds of people have died in shelling and fighting, petrol is scarce and thousands of migrant workers are trapped there.

Nato air strikes may force Libya to halt fighting by its army in the besieged port of Misrata and let local tribes take over the battle, the government said, in what could amount to an important shift in the battlefield city.
Hours after the announcement of a shift in tactics in Misrata by forces of leader Muammar Gaddafi, Nato bombs struck what appeared to be a bunker near his compound in central Tripoli. The government said the target was a car park and three people were killed.

Nato foreign ministers to hold talks in Berlin

Tasks in Nato's Libya mission include policing the arms embargo with ships and enforcing the UN-backed no-fly zone.
The UK and France want more countries involved in the most aggressive role, that of attacking targets on the ground.
Only six out of Nato's 28 members are conducting air strikes, with French and British warplanes carrying out half of the flights, a French official told AFP news agency. Nato itself is not giving breakdowns of aircraft provided by each country for sorties.

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who has been in power for 12 years, has promised to amend the constitution to "strengthen democracy".

It was his first address to the nation in three months.
Unrest broke out in January with strikes, marches and rioting echoing protests elsewhere in the Arab world.
Under pressure to amend the constitution and limit presidential terms, the 74-year-old leader lifted the country's state of emergency in February, after 19 years.
However, the trigger for the unrest appears to be mainly economic, especially sharp increases in the price of food.

Mubarak hospitalised due to a drop in blood pressure

Mubarak had been confined to a villa in Sharm Al Shaikh since 18-day long protests forced him to resign on February 11.
His two sons, Alaa and Gamal, are in prison in the capital's south, and face similar accusations. The complex, once home to political prisoners, now hosts a growing number of former regime officials, including Mubarak's interior minister and his former party's leadership.
